With This Ring (The Song) – Written by Ali Eastburn

They laugh the same, they cry the same, they hurt the same as me

They want a future for their children, and they want them to see

That there’s still hope in this great world, and God will see them through

Maybe the answer to their prayer is me and you

With This Ring, maybe I can feed a village

With This Ring, bring water to the thirsty

With This Ring, show the world that I can live without this pretty thing

And maybe I can change the world, with This Ring

Sometimes we get a chance to be a hero in this life

A chance to make things different, a chance to make things right

One moment in a million, to show the world we care

One sacrifice, one vision, one burden we can bear

With This Ring, maybe I can feed a village

With This Ring, bring water to the thirsty

With This Ring, show the world that I can live without this pretty thing

And maybe I can change the world, with This Ring

One hope, one life, one prayer, one fight

With This Ring, maybe I can feed a village

With This Ring, bring water to the thirsty

With This Ring, show the world that I can live without this pretty thing

And maybe I can change the world, with This Ring

56 Tracks

As a former independent Country Recording artist (“independent” meaning unsigned), I knew it was a huge undertaking to use the With This Ring song as the backdrop for our DVD.

This presented two problems. 1. No money, and 2. no money! You can’t get a good producer or good musicians without money!

I had just about given up, when some God and some friends showed up. My friends said they knew a producer.

This friend, Rob Perez, decided to produce the WTR song at no charge. Being so moved by the mission of With This Ring, he began to share what he was doing with his industry friends. One by one, musician after musician the song gathered a group of incredibly talented people, pushing it to become a great piece of art. They took the song and ran with it. I didn’t hear any part of it until they called me to lay down the vocal tracks.

When all was said and done, this simple song (that was to be recorded with just an acoustic guitar and me) turned into a masterpiece that displayed some of the finest musicians and engineers in Southern California. It’s amazing what can happen when we lift up our hands to our heavenly Father and say, “Here let’s see what you can do with this.”

The song finished with an amazing 56 tracks! Originally I thought it was my song. By handing it back to God I learned that I wasn’t the one driving the vehicle…God took the steering wheel and drove to the place it needed to go.

What in your life have you handed to God in desperation that he multiplied the return on your investment?

Giving what you have is enough

Have you ever heard the saying, “You can’t get blood from a turnip?” I always think of that slogan when I think of going above and beyond what we are asked. There is a fine line that has to be walked between giving what we have, and giving beyond what we have. In radical giving, I am asked by God to give back to Him what was given to me. I then ask God to take this gift and multiply it for His use.

He is not asking me for more than what I have, or for all of my future earnings. I don’t need to think about what I should give in comparison with my neighbor’s gift. Nor do I need to think about all of the things I may be asked to give to God later. All He wants from me is to say, “Yes” to the here and now. He wants to have my heart. If I cannot part with the insignificant things of this world, I am not giving Him my heart.

God is only asking us to give Him what we have right now. We don’t need to put it on a spiritual credit card to make it seem like a more noble gift, when all it will do is accrue interest and higher debt. We can’t sweep it under the carpet, hoping God will not see it and we don’t have to give it. That would require a spiritual audit—and God as IRS agent is a scary thought.

All we are asked to do is open up our hands and say, “Here it is God.  All I have is yours.” With this He can do many miracles!

What is it that God has given you that you are being asked to give back to Him?
